Why do we love things time has touched?
For Lecture 7 of Pint of View Jaipur, we explore The Seduction of Weathered Surfaces—a conversation on the artistic practice of patina and why beauty is often found not in perfection, but in collaboration with time.
But what exactly is patina? It is the character a surface develops over time—the colours, textures and marks created by ageing, weathering and use. From an oxidised silver jhumka to an old wooden table, patina transforms objects into stories of where they have been.

🎙️ Speaker: Aashu Chawla Sculptor, researcher and Assistant Professor at Rajasthan School of Arts, Aashu’s work explores how materials transform over time and how these changes shape our understanding of beauty, memory and decay.
