What makes a book worth keeping? For Nobel Prize-winning author Abdulrazak Gurnah, the answer was found in a simple question: Which book would I want to read again? Retirement brought with it the task of sorting through nearly 20 boxes of books accumulated over years of teaching literature. As Gurnah revisited them, he found himself deciding which books, and which writers, had truly stayed with him. Some passed the test; others lasted only a few pages before returning to the box. The books we return to are often the ones that have never really left us. In 2027, we celebrate 20 years of the ‘greatest literary show on earth!’ Register now to attend (Link in bio)

“Objects carry stories. Stories give them meaning. Words paint them. For Orhan Pamuk, an object is never merely an object. It can carry a memory, gather a history, acquire an aura and, through the gifted hand of a writer, become part of a la…”
