The Centre for Microfinance (CmF) (www.cmfraj.org) is a state-level resource organization working primarily in Rajasthan. It was set up in 2007 by a group of stakeholders including the Tata Trusts, state government, Prof. VS Vyas, eminent economist and Padma Bhushan awardee, Late Mr. M.L. Mehta, former Chief Secy, Govt of Rajasthan, Mr. N.S. Sisodia, former Secy, Govt of India, Dr. Anil Khandelwal, former CMD, Bank of Baroda, Prof. M.S. Sriram and leaders of renowned NGOs in Rajasthan. The initial focus of CmF was to catalyze the growth of the community led microfinance (the Self-Help Group model) in Rajasthan. Since 2015, CmF has expanded its work to other thematic areas such as water security, education, skilling and nutrition with the objective of enhancing the quality of life of underprivileged communities. Prof VS Vyas, apart from being a brilliant academician, was highly respected in the policy making space. He was a member of the PM’s Economic Advisory Council, Vice- Chair of CM’s Economic Advisory Council, former member of the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India.
